Salmon on the grill
Grilling Salmon is a delicious meal, but can be quite tricky to perfect. If you need to check out a cookery book to make toast, grilling a Salmon may seem like an impossible task. Here are some easy to follow tips to grill salmon to perfection.
The first thing is to leave the Salmon’s skin on. This enables the meat to be cooked all the way through without it charring. Now preheat your grill on a medium to high setting. Now brush or rub the skin with a small amount of Olive oil. This is one of the best tips as the oil really brings out the flavour. The thin layer of fat on the Salmon’s skin also helps the strength of flavour.
Seasoning is very much personal taste, but some of the best are pepper and lemon, cayenne pepper and garlic. Once seasoned, place the salmon on the grill skin down. Cook the Salmon for approximately 5-7 minutes. Now checking that all the Salmon is cooking evenly, if any part is cooking faster, move the Salmon around to even up the cooking.
Continue cooking for another 5-7 minutes. The important thing is always to remember to leave the skin intact, and to keep the door of the grill shut while the Salmon is cooking. You will know your Salmon is cooked perfectly when the meat is flaking and light. To finish off, remove the Salmon and brush it with some butter and maybe some lemon juice.
