A treat for American Whiskey fans
At 10am this coming Thursday, a new gift store will be opening its doors to fans and visitors, but American whiskey fans may well be showing up much earlier in the day, or the previous night, based on how past events have gone. This is thanks in large part to a limited edition bottle that should be a prized purchase from these shoppers.
In fact, only 1,100 such bottles of the George Washington rye whiskey will be available to be purchased, an exclusive bottle which has been authenticated as Washington’s very own recipe. The bottles are set to go for sale at $95 each, which is a price that most shoppers who are going to be queuing up have no problem paying, in order to get access to such a prized drink.
Mount Vernon crew has been hard at work have recreating the whiskey named after this former US President, taken from original recipes and accounts of how this particular drink had been made. Distillers are using the same methods that were used long ago, providing the same grain based recipe consisting of 60% rye, 35% corn and 5% barley, to get just the right consistency. After mixing and fermentation, this mix will create the right mixture to fill a 120 gallon oak barrel, the same type that was used back then as well.
Dave Pickerall, a master distiller, already described the product as earthy, grainy and slightly floral with a taste that is surprisingly mellow. This release follows four runs of production and is being offered as a limited time deal, where all of the battles are expected to leave the shelves fairly quickly.
