Successful wine sales on Monarch Airlines show there is a market for it
A branded wine has recently gone on sale on Monarch Airlines and the success that has shown there is certainly a market for branded wines on aeroplanes. The wine was Hardy’s and the initial sales period was so good that it is expected that more airlines are going to be increasing the number of branded wines they offer on flights.
The airline commented, “For many years the wines being sold in flight did not have any known brands, however we decided to test something new, and it has been quite successful. When we listed the wine on board the plane the number of people deciding to drink wine increased dramatically, we saw the most amount of success when we decided to list the Hardy’s rosé wine.”
The manager for retail buying in flight is Chloe Lerner and she commented, “We really didn’t expected to go as well as it did. It was certainly a bit of a risk for us to choose a wine that had a brand on it as we didn’t know whether it would be successful, but what is now clear is that we have made the right decision, choosing a branded wine is now paying off.”
A sales director for the wine company, Accolade Wines is Rupert Firbank and he has commented, “Seeing the success of this wine on board an airline is very good news, it just goes to show how important branding can be to customers as it assures them of the quality of wine. What is now clear is that customers don’t want just tertiary label wines on a plane, and the branded ones can be significantly more successful.”
