Wine of The Year 2013 is Faustino l Gran Reserva 2001

Decanter magazine composed tasting teams made up of top wine-lovers to choose their top win of 2013. This year the honours go to Faustino I Gran Reserva 2001 which is a leading Rioja.
The decision was not easy as experts from the magazine spent the year sampling over three thousand wines from all over the globe in order to create their annual Top 50 Wines of the Year list.
Faustino I Gran Reserva 2001 scored 19.25 points out of possible 20 points in blind tastings to earn top position as the highest-scoring and best-value wine.
Faustino I Gran Reserva 2001, made from Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo grapes, is described as having a “restrained, mineral style with relevant tannins. Youthful and fresh, feminine and complex. Deliciously decadent with extraordinary vitality in the palate and a long finish. A jewel at this price point”.
Faustino I Gran Reserva 2001 is priced at between GBP16 and GBP20 and is available from Sainsbury, Costco, Fine and Rare, Wine Rack, Makro, Mathew Clark and leading independents.
