British Sandwich Week record attempt

May 12 to 18 is British Sandwich Week and to celebrate the British Sandwich Association is going to try to set a new world record, specifically they intend to set a new record for the largest number of people simultaneously making a sandwich.
Media City, Salford Quays Manchester is the location of the attempt on May 14 and the BSA is very confident that they will break the existing record which stands at 308 people currently held by the Café Rouge restaurant chain.
BSA Director Jim Winship explains: “We are confident that we can beat the current record by a considerable margin and have already got hundreds of participants from amongst our membership signed up to come and help with the attempt and are also hoping to get lots of people from the local area to join us as well.
“This year’s British Sandwich Week activity will be very much focussed on encouraging people to make time for a short lunch break. There’s lots of evidence about the benefits of taking time away from your desk, having something to eat and enjoying some fresh air, so what better way for people to spend their lunch break than by helping us write our way into the record books and joining us afterwards to eat what they have made.”
In addition to the World Record attempt, the British Sandwich Association will also be giving away 1,000 ‘free lunches’ as part of a nationwide ‘Love Lunch’ promotion on its www.lovesarnies.com website during May.
