Spanish Jerte Picota Cherries PDO available soon after much preparation
Naturally sweet, perfectly ripe and uniquely stalkless – Jerte Picota Cherries PDO are nearly here, after a whole year of preparation!
They are only grown in the Jerte Valley of Spain, west of Madrid, under the strict quality controls of the PDO. Completely natural, they are never artificially cultivated or preserved – so the taste and quality is never compromised and they have a very short season. They take twice as long to mature on the tree as regular cherries, which explains their sweet and deep flavour. They are so perfectly ripe when picked that they come away easily from the tree, leaving the stalks behind on the branches. Each cherry is hand harvested by local farmers in a small community, and collected in traditional Chestnut Wood baskets, just as it has been for centuries!

The Protected Denomination of Origin (PDO) awarded in 1996, guarantees the fruit is grown, harvested and packed in the Valle del Jerte, Spain.
From January 4, 2016, in the case of products originating in the Union marketed under a protected designation of origin or a protected geographical indication, the symbols associated with them shall appear on the labelling. In addition, the registered name of the product should appear nearby.
