‘Make My Sausage’ Challenge For Dream Sausage Flavour Suggestions
The ‘welly good’ sausage makers at debbie&andrew’s are always on a Quest for the Best in sausages. Looking for new inspiration to help create the most delicious of sausages, debbie&andrew’s are inviting sausage fans to suggest what favourite flavours and ingredients they would choose to have in their dream sausage! The winning idea will become the subject of a ‘Quest for the Best’ film that will document the making of the prize sausage which will also become part of debbie&andrew’s 2016 road show range.
This is the perfect chance to influence the future of sausages. First eaten in Roman times as a way of providing food for soldiers on the march, they still make up one of the UK’s favourite mealtimes! Over the years, different varieties have developed, often reflecting regional produce or industries. For instance, the Cumberland sausage was inspired by the peppers and spices as they started to arrive in northern ports. The latest development from debbie&andrew’s is to turn the award winning Perfect Pork sausage into a wheat, gluten and dairy free variety. But what next? That is the challenge being presented to sausage fans. debbie&andrew’s only use the best British meat in their sausages, made from farms that meet the Red Tractor standard. But what else would you add? Ginger? Dried Figs? Marmalade? What ingredients would you like not to add? Is there regional produce that would inspire your sausage?

The choice is yours, simply enter via www.debbieandandrews.co.uk/questforthebest or tweet #makemysausage with your dream sausage idea and contact details by 23rd September.
The winning sausage will be judged by debbie&andrew’s and Andy Bates, the award winning TV chef and champion of British food. He has presented three TV series which follow global street food trends and highlight modern twists on a variety of classic dishes and is spearheading the ‘Quest for the Best Campaign’. “I want to encourage people to explore what makes something taste good,” comments Andy Bates. “I think it is important to use fresh, quality ingredients and also to understand where they come from”.
Quest for the Best – Making a Prize Sausage.
Andy will also follow the winning sausage through debbie&andrew’s production process, filming all the stages involved in preparing the prize sausage. Going right to the heart of the matter, Andy will follow the winning sausage through every step of the production process and the results will be broadcast on the Quest for the Best website in October.
