RECIPE: Newby’s Masala Chai – A Taste of Winter
Translating as ‘spiced tea’ from Hindi, Masala Chai is a fantastically fragrant traditional Indian drink, full of the flavours of winter. Using the finest Assam black tea, Newby’s blend combines cardamom, clove, cinnamon, black pepper and ginger – making it the perfect everyday winter warmer. For added seasonal spice, brew in a large teapot with sliced orange, cinnamon stick and a tablespoon of honey – the perfect Christmas blend.
Masala Chai Winter Warmer
Ingredients (makes one pot)
- Two Newby Masala Chai Silken Pyramids
- ½ Orange, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp. of honey
- 1 small cinnamon stick
- Freshly boiled water
Method
- Place the two Masala Chai Silken Pyramids, a few slices of orange, one small cinnamon stick and 1 tablespoon of honey in a large teapot.
- Pour freshly boiled water into teapot and leave to brew for 5 minutes.
- Pour into individual teacups with a slice of orange to decorate.
