UK are eating very limited diets according to new research
Recent research has shown that most people in the UK have a very limited diet. The research highlighted that most people tend to eat the same food for breakfast and lunch every day, and then rotate the meals in the evening on a regular basis. Generally, in the evening people tend to stick to simple dishes such as chicken Tikka Masala or Spaghetti Bolognaise.
The survey also showed that nearly 70 percent of people buy the same food at the supermarket every week, and this really solidifies the stereotype that British people are very habitual, especially when it comes to eating. The survey involved 3000 people and was conducted for a trade organisation in the UK called PAGB.
The dietician, Helen Bond has stated, “Eating the same food everyday is quite a boring choice but more importantly it could lead to certain nutritional deficiencies. Often if you’re not eating a wide range of different foods then you are going to be missing out on some key ingredients. You should make sure that you are eating enough fruit and vegetables as well, as these are essential part of any healthy diet.
The survey also showed that people generally ate toast or cereal for breakfast and then ate sandwiches for lunch. Pasta was highlighted as the most popular evening meal with nearly 50 percent of respondents saying that they ate it on a weekly basis, chips and pizza were the second most popular option.
25 percent of people said that they ate takeaway at least once a week and it is thought that this could further contribute to health problems. Interestingly, the survey also highlighted that 90 percent of people eat meals that are typically one colour, which is beige. The survey also showed that five percent of people do not eat any fruits and vegetables.
